As the front moves south and east, it is expected to stall, dumping significant volumes of water on Gisborne (Tairāwhiti) and Hawke’s Bay.
Orange Heavy Rain Warning Details:

🛡️ Preparation and Safety
Civil Defence and MetService are urging residents in the warning zones to take proactive steps before the heavy rain arrives tomorrow morning:
- Clear Gutters and Drains: Ensure water can flow away from your property to prevent minor flooding.
- Secure Loose Items: High winds associated with thunderstorms can turn garden furniture into projectiles.
- Check Road Conditions: If you are traveling between regions this weekend, check the Waka Kotahi (NZTA) website for slips or road closures.
- Stay Informed: Keep an eye on local radar as thunderstorms can develop and change intensity quickly.
