KATUNAYAKE, SRI LANKA — Thursday, February 5, 2026 — For the first time in history, Sri Lankan fans are set to experience the high-octane energy of a live Korean Pop (K-Pop) concert. The world-renowned South Korean music group “Seet-ch” landed at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) on the afternoon of February 4th, marking a milestone in the island’s cultural entertainment landscape.

The 10-member group, known for their synchronized choreography and chart-topping hits, arrived to a warm reception as the country gears up for a major celebration of Korean culture.

1. A Grand Welcome at Katunayake

The group arrived at 4:50 PM on Wednesday via SriLankan Airlines flight UL-471, traveling directly from Incheon, South Korea.

To mark the significance of their visit, high-ranking officials from the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) were present at the airport to welcome the stars. The arrival was met with excitement from airport staff and early-bird fans who had gathered to catch a glimpse of the K-Pop icons.

2. The Big Event: February 7th

The “Seet-ch” ensemble is the headline act for the upcoming Korean Cultural Exhibition and Festival.

  • Date: February 7, 2026
  • Venue: Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC), Colombo.
  • The Show: The group is expected to perform a full set of their most popular songs, bringing the authentic K-Pop “Idol” experience to a Sri Lankan stage for the very first time.

3. Strengthening Sri Lanka-Korea Ties

The visit is part of a larger initiative to strengthen cultural and diplomatic ties between the two nations. With the rising popularity of Korean dramas and music in Sri Lanka—a phenomenon known as the “Hallyu” or Korean Wave—this concert is seen as a major boost for youth engagement and international tourism.

The festival on February 7th will not only feature the concert but also showcase Korean cuisine, traditional crafts, and technological innovations, offering a comprehensive look into South Korean life.

4. K-Pop Fans on Cloud Nine

Social media has been abuzz since the news of their arrival broke. Fan clubs across the island are organizing transport and “fan projects” (coordinated cheers and lightstick displays) to ensure the group feels at home during their debut Colombo performance. Tickets for the event at SLECC are reportedly selling at record speeds.
