WELLINGTON — Wednesday, February 4, 2026 — Commuters at Wellington Station are about to get a taste of the future—and it smells like melted mozzarella. A new “NomNom Pizza” vending machine, emblazoned with the slogan “Any Time Is Pizza Time,” has appeared on the station concourse, promising freshly-baked artisan pizza in just three minutes.

The machine, which is currently undergoing final checks before becoming fully operational, is the brainchild of French expats Stéphanie and Vincent Boudet. The couple is on a mission to prove that “vending machine food” doesn’t have to mean “low quality.”

1. Fresh Food, Fast — Not “Fast Food”

Despite the high-tech delivery system, the Boudets are adamant that their product is a far cry from the frozen, microwavable snacks typically found in vending machines.

“It’s not a microwave, and it’s not frozen pizza,” Stéphanie told reporters. “It is fresh food, fast.”

  • The Process: The 30cm pizzas are handmade in a professional kitchen and pre-cooked to 80%.
  • The Machine: The unit acts as both a fridge and a high-spec oven. It can store up to 69 pizzas at a time.
  • The Finish: When a customer orders, the machine completes the final 20% of the bake, slices the pizza, boxes it, and delivers it steaming hot.

2. A Menu with a French Twist

The Boudets have curated a menu of seven pizzas, some featuring specialty ingredients sourced directly from France. While the machine offers convenience, Vincent—who has a background in professional food services—says it’s about quality first.

The Launch Menu:

  • Simply the Best: Classic tomato sauce and mozzarella.
  • Meat Me Later: A spicy blend of beef, lardons, and chorizo.
  • Hot Chick: Mexican-inspired chicken with lemon confit and corn.
  • Peppeholic: For the pepperoni and chorizo lovers.
  • Garden Party: A vegetarian-friendly loaded veggie option.
  • Fourmidable: A sophisticated mix of cheeses, walnuts, and honey.
  • Spud Buddy: A crème fraîche base topped with potatoes, lardons, and onions.

3. Why Wellington Station?

Wellington Station was chosen for its high foot traffic and the “on-the-go” nature of the capital’s commuters. Whether it’s a late-night snack after a shift or a quick dinner for those catching the Johnsonville or Kapiti lines, the Boudets believe “Any Time” truly is pizza time.

“We aren’t trying to replace a sit-down restaurant experience,” Vincent explained. “We are providing a convenient, high-quality alternative for people who love good pizza but are short on time.”

4. Coming Soon

While the machine is currently in its final setup phase, signs indicate it will be operational within days. The Boudets plan to start with these seven core options but have already hinted at seasonal variations once the business is fully established.
