COLOMBO, SRI LANKA (Sunday, January 18, 2026) — Former Cabinet Minister and veteran politician Nandana Gunathilake has passed away at the age of 63. According to family sources, he breathed his last while receiving treatment at the Ragama Teaching Hospital.

Gunathilake, a prominent figure in Sri Lankan politics for over three decades, was widely recognized for his early leadership roles and his transition across the political spectrum during pivotal moments in the country’s history.
