KILINOCHCHI, SRI LANKA (January 13, 2026) — A devastating road accident in the Murusumuttai area along the Paranthan-Mullaitivu road has claimed the lives of four individuals and left another fighting for life. The collision, which occurred on Monday evening (January 12), involved a private bus and a motor car.
Kilinochchi Police have launched an investigation into the crash, which has sent shockwaves through the local Vishwamadu community.

According to police reports, a private bus traveling from Paranthan toward Mullaitivu collided head-on with a motor car coming from the opposite direction.
- The Cause: Initial investigations suggest the motor car was traveling at high speed. The driver reportedly lost control, leading to the direct impact with the oncoming bus.
- The Victims: Three occupants of the car, including the driver, were pronounced dead shortly after being admitted to the Kilinochchi Hospital. A fourth person succumbed to their injuries later.
- Demographics: The deceased were residents of the Vishwamadu area in Kilinochchi, aged between 32 and 46 years old.
🏥 Critical Survivor Transferred
One survivor remains in critical condition. While initially treated at Kilinochchi Hospital, hospital sources indicate that due to the severity of the injuries, the individual is being prepared for an emergency transfer to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital for specialized care.
