Pregnant WA Music Teacher Charged with ‘Persistent’ Sexual Abuse of Student

MANDURAH, WESTERN AUSTRALIA (January 9, 2026) — A pregnant high school music teacher in Western Australia is facing serious criminal charges following allegations of “persistent sexual conduct” with a student under the age of 16. Naomi Tekea Craig, 33, was arrested this week after a police investigation into her conduct at a prestigious private school south of Perth.

The news has sent shockwaves through the local community, as Craig is reportedly due to give birth to her second child later this month.

Craig, who was employed at the Frederick Irwin Anglican School in Mandurah, faces four significant charges:

  • Two counts of sexual penetration of a child by a person of authority.
  • One count of persistent sexual conduct with a child under 16.
  • One count relating to child exploitation material.

The alleged offending is said to have occurred between 2024 and 2025. While the victim was a student at the time of the alleged crimes, school officials have clarified that the individual is not a current student at the institution.

The Principal of Frederick Irwin Anglican School, Tracey Gray, addressed the arrest in an urgent letter to parents and the school community.

“The teacher has been instructed not to attend the school,” the letter stated. “The information available suggests there is no need for concern for any other children at the school. The safety and wellbeing of your child and all students continues to be our priority.”

Craig, a graduate of the University of Western Australia and Edith Cowan University, had only joined the co-educational private school in 2024.

Reports indicate that Craig is married and has a three-year-old son. She had recently commenced maternity leave ahead of the expected birth of her second child later this month.
